These coordination offices conduct activities aimed at monitoring current developments in educational technologies, producing technology-oriented academic projects, developing high-quality and sustainable digital learning materials through the effective use of green screen technology, and improving distance education processes in accordance with contemporary educational models and learning theories.
DEBİM provides services in the areas of distance education, e-examinations, hardware and infrastructure, academic journals and publications, electronic document management, information technologies, and academic performance evaluation. Each of these service areas is managed by a coordinator with relevant expertise and is continuously enhanced in collaboration with the appropriate stakeholders in line with the University’s academic and technological needs.
The primary responsibilities of the Distance Education Coordination Office include establishing the technical and pedagogical standards required for educational activities delivered to students and academic staff through distance education, improving the quality of education through the effective use of educational technologies, developing the necessary hardware, software, and human resources infrastructure, and ensuring the sustainability of this infrastructure. The Coordination Office also provides technical and educational technology support to its affiliated academic units and other coordination offices, while ensuring that distance education activities at the University are conducted in a contemporary, reliable, and high-quality manner. In response to the needs of students and academic staff, seminars, training programmes, and live broadcasts are organised, and academic staff are provided with the necessary technical and infrastructural support.
Our distance education system and dedicated team provide the technical infrastructure and support services required for the uninterrupted delivery of online courses. During the suspension of face-to-face education due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the necessary measures were implemented rapidly to ensure that courses at the University could continue through distance education using digital technologies. This unprecedented period was managed effectively and successfully through the collaboration of all stakeholders. From the Spring Semester of the 2019–2020 Academic Year onwards, courses at the associate, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels were delivered online. The digital infrastructure established during this period remains actively in use and continues to provide online access to course content.
As the Distance Education and E-Exam Coordination Offices, we closely monitor developments in today’s rapidly evolving digital environment and continuously update our academic, technical, and pedagogical processes. By enhancing our software, hardware, and educational infrastructure in accordance with contemporary requirements, we aim to provide high-quality, reliable, accessible, and sustainable services to our students, academic staff, and University.
